March 15th, 2012, the "Chase 5" of Occupy Seattle have been proven "Not Guilty" for the allegations of criminal trespass after engaging in a sit-in at a local Chase bank branch. The bank management had locked the doors, trapping the protesters inside while they called 911 to report tresspass.
This victory is magnified by it's timing - March 13th was the birthday of the CEO of JP Morgan & Chase. This will be one hell of a present!
All over the nation, Occupiers are winning in court. With help from the American Civil Liberties Union, the National Lawyers Guild, and many more public defenders, lawyers, and advisors, the often erroneous and unsubstantiated allegations are being dismissed, and the protesters are being found innocent left and right.
At the centre of it all, the first amendment and its power to trump all laws or rules which abridge the freedoms thereof.
Congrats, Seattle.
