"Battle for the Soul of Occupy" neatly stacks all the faults of Occupy in neat rows for public view.
Using possesive language for a movement meant for everyone, attacking other progressive groups, demeaning, and meddling in foreign affairs, Adbusters needs to be called out for being the very threat they accuse MoveOn of being.
I'm no fan of MoveOn OR Adbusters, but to see them squabbling over who gets the most donations and who gets to claim ownership of Occupy/99% Spring festers in my stomach the very way that it pains me to watch as these same bitter and vicious arguments tear the movement apart from within.
Activism is alive and strong - so is "clicktivism". While I would LOVE to see the words "militant, non-violent direct action" from Adbusters turn out, it must be said that divisive soldiers have no use on the battlefield. If Adbusters wants to attack other progressives and liberals fighting for the same things (in general), then be careful about crawling into the same foxhole. Fickle friends don't change.
The sentiment lingers. MoveOn helped structure the movement, but when they gained a reputation for co-opting and capitalizing on the movement like a business, they were quickly and brutally attacked. Rather than working the MoveOn membership to reform their ways, seek cooperation, or simply use other resources, people and groups like Adbusters resort to simply attacking them.
This atrocity is what has caused Occupy to die. And if not die - then to be the living dead.
Cooperation is mutually exclusive to alienation. When will you learn this lesson?
