I know you'll probably never get a chance to read this, but I meant it only for you.
I don't know what the world looks like from the other side of the bars. But I know we are both jailed - that we are both innocent of our crimes, and that whoever put us here put us all here.
I know you are innocent, because I know that crime does not exist. We all do what we need to do to survive. It's a matter of time before simply living is enough for conviction. There is no crime that society, in one way or the other, has not forced us to commit to live.
For living, we fight.
An eternal onslaught of oppression, of fear and what keeps us going is a will to live.
I know that wherever you are, we are not free. I know that they keep that from us, and in the most honest way they strip freedom and liberty from the concrete halls and iron doors.
We are innocent, but only until proven guilty. And yet who is ever to make such a determination? If we were just allowed to share our whole truth, no judge could accuse us of a crime. But the law is cold and never compassionate.
But we are. I stand among legions of allies who stand with you in total and infinite solidarity. It is not whether or not you are "guilty", but that the nerve of one person has jailed a free person for a crime they could not commit, or could not help to commit.
I know they will try to force you to guilt. It's what they want. But I'm proud of you. We all are. In our hearts, you are innocent. Re-united, I want you to know you are welcome. You are loved. You are respected. You can still be free, still have liberty. It is the business of the jail to force such beliefs out of you - to cast you into desperate isolation and loneliness that you come out a "reformed" person.
I urge you to resist. You are born free, you are born with liberty. We are legion - and we have already got all the proof in the world of your humanity and innocence. I plead with you that no matter what they try to do to you, that you never lose hope.
I dream some days of grand escapes, freeing you, trying to free myself from the same shackles, however hidden. I dream of grand displays of resistance... and I believe in my heart that this can all be true.
You are your own master.
While at the end of a gun, at the hilt of a club, they force us to bow - know that this brutality will not stand. There will be retribution. For every human who has ever looked upon you and claimed you were less than human, a criminal, those eyes will suffer for the persecution of your innocence.
I don't yet know if the day will come soon that you are freed from your solitude, but if we cannot help you physically, let us help you mentally.
Believe these words.
You are the strongest of us all.
You have the resilience that many cannot dream of.
You have the power to make change.
You were born free, and in your strength, you shall die free.
Stay strong. We are coming.
Resist the urge to give in.
If there is one part of you they cannot break, it must be your spirit.
For what they have done to you, there are no words to describe the injustice. But it is not words that will set you free.
It's the warrior in you, fighting to escape the cold bars around you.
We fight the same battle. We will not abandon you - now, or ever.
Stay strong.
We are coming.
